Premium Garden Roses for Weddings and Events
Garden roses are prized for their layered petals, distinctive shapes and often beautiful fragrance. Unlike standard roses, which generally have a more uniform form, garden roses open into lush rosettes, cups and quartered blooms. Their romantic, garden-inspired appearance makes them a favorite for bridal bouquets, centerpieces and statement floral installations.
Our collection includes traditional garden roses, English-style roses and sought-after varieties from renowned breeders such as David Austin and Wabara. Colors range from white, cream and blush to peach, coral, pink, lavender, red and warm neutral tones.
Garden Roses or Standard Roses?
Garden roses generally have larger, more textured blooms and a higher petal count than standard roses. Their open shapes can resemble peonies, making them a beautiful alternative when peonies are unavailable or out of season.
Standard roses remain an excellent choice when you need longer stems, a more consistent shape or greater quantities throughout an arrangement. Many floral designers combine the two: garden roses as focal flowers and standard roses to provide structure and volume.
Designing With Garden Roses
Because garden roses create significant visual impact, a small number can transform an arrangement. Use them as the principal flower in a romantic bouquet or combine them with ranunculus, lisianthus, anemones and airy greenery for a layered garden style.
Typical uses include:
-
Bridal bouquets: Use approximately six to nine stems as focal flowers, depending on the desired bouquet size and the other flowers included.
-
Bridesmaid bouquets: One to three garden roses can create a premium focal point.
-
Centerpieces: Three to five stems add texture and visual impact to most medium arrangements.
-
Ceremony arrangements: Use garden roses selectively in arches, urns and altar pieces where their open blooms will be especially visible.
-
Sweetheart tables and statement designs: Feature distinctive varieties where guests can appreciate their color, shape and fragrance up close.
These quantities are general planning estimates. Bloom size varies by variety, and the final number needed will depend on the size and style of your arrangement.
Ordering Fresh Garden Roses
Flower Explosion’s garden roses are cut to order and shipped directly from the farm. Product quantities, stem lengths, bloom sizes and availability vary by variety, so review the specifications shown on each product page before ordering.
Schedule delivery two to three days before your wedding or event. Garden roses may arrive tighter and less open than they appear in finished floral designs. This is normal and protects the delicate blooms during transportation. After proper hydration, they will gradually open and reveal their characteristic shape.
Caring for Garden Roses Before Your Event
Prepare clean buckets with fresh, room-temperature water. Remove any foliage that would fall below the waterline, recut approximately one inch from each stem at an angle and place the flowers in water immediately.
Allow the roses to hydrate in a cool location away from direct sunlight, drafts and heat. Replace the water as needed and keep your tools and containers clean. Do not force the petals open; give the flowers time to hydrate and develop naturally.

Are garden roses fragrant?
Many garden roses have a noticeable fragrance, although its strength varies by variety. Review the individual product description when fragrance is especially important to your design.
Can garden roses replace peonies?
Garden roses are a popular peony alternative because of their full, ruffled appearance. They provide a similar romantic effect and are often available during periods when peonies are difficult to source.
