Selecting the Right Roses
Roses work beautifully in nearly every wedding style. Standard roses provide a timeless, elegant look for bouquets and centerpieces, while garden roses create soft, romantic arrangements with layered petals and exceptional texture. Spray roses add delicate detail and are ideal for boutonnieres, corsages, flower crowns, bud vases, and bouquet accents.
Many couples combine multiple rose varieties with greenery and complementary flowers such as ranunculus, lisianthus, hydrangeas, baby's breath, stock, and eucalyptus to create floral designs with beautiful depth, movement, and texture.
Standard Roses vs. Garden Roses vs. Spray Roses
Standard Roses
Standard roses are the classic choice for bridal bouquets, centerpieces, ceremony flowers, and reception arrangements. They offer dependable bloom size, an extensive range of colors, and outstanding value, making them one of the most versatile flowers for weddings.
Garden Roses
Garden roses feature densely layered petals that open into large, romantic blooms. Their luxurious appearance makes them a favorite for bridal bouquets, sweetheart tables, statement centerpieces, and elevated floral designs where texture and elegance take center stage.
Spray Roses
Spray roses produce multiple smaller blooms on each stem, making them perfect for boutonnieres, corsages, flower crowns, bud vases, and adding fullness and texture throughout larger arrangements.
Choosing Rose Colors
Roses are available in an incredible range of colors to complement every wedding palette. White roses remain a timeless favorite for classic celebrations, while blush and soft pink roses create romantic garden-inspired designs. Peach, champagne, and cream roses pair beautifully with neutral palettes, while rich red roses provide dramatic elegance. Many couples also combine multiple rose colors with greenery and accent flowers to create depth and visual interest throughout their floral designs.
Planning Your Flower Delivery
For most weddings, we recommend scheduling your roses to arrive 2–3 days before your event. This allows the flowers to hydrate after shipping and begin opening naturally before arranging.
- 2–8 weeks before: Place your order to secure your preferred rose varieties and quantities.
- 2–3 days before: Roses arrive. Unpack immediately, trim approximately one inch from each stem, and hydrate in clean water with flower food.
- 1–2 days before: Create bouquets, centerpieces, ceremony flowers, boutonnieres, and other arrangements.
- Wedding day: Keep finished arrangements cool until setup for maximum freshness.
Rose Design Ideas
Some of our favorite combinations include white roses with silver dollar eucalyptus for timeless elegance, blush garden roses with ranunculus for romantic bouquets, peach roses with Italian ruscus for warm outdoor celebrations, and spray roses paired with baby's breath for delicate floral accents. Mixing roses with greenery and textured flowers creates arrangements that look naturally full, balanced, and professionally designed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What type of rose is best for weddings?
Standard roses, garden roses, and spray roses each serve a different purpose. Standard roses are ideal for classic bouquets and centerpieces, garden roses create luxurious focal arrangements, and spray roses are perfect for floral accents and smaller personal flowers.
How many roses do I need?
The number of stems you'll need depends on your guest count, bouquet size, centerpiece style, and ceremony décor. Many couples combine roses with greenery and filler flowers to create beautiful arrangements while adding texture and variety throughout their designs.
When should my roses arrive?
Most couples schedule delivery 2–3 days before their wedding to allow roses time to hydrate and begin opening before arranging.
How are wedding roses packed and shipped?
Our wedding roses are carefully packed in bunches of 25 stems with protective sleeves placed around the blooms to help prevent damage during transit. The bunches are secured inside specially designed floral shipping boxes that help maintain freshness while your flowers travel from the farm to your door. Because fresh roses are shipped without water, they may look thirsty when they arrive. This is completely normal. After trimming the stems and placing them into clean water with flower food, the blooms will begin to hydrate and open naturally over the next couple of days.
