Blue Delphinium Buying Guide

Light Blue Delphinium is one of the most popular blue flowers for weddings, DIY floral designs, and special events. Its tall stems and delicate sky-blue florets create graceful height, movement, and texture.

Why Choose Light Blue Delphinium?

Light Blue Delphinium is loved for its airy appearance, soft color, and dramatic height. Unlike focal flowers such as roses or peonies, delphinium acts as a line flower, helping create natural movement and visual depth within floral designs.

Its delicate blue blooms work beautifully in romantic, garden-inspired, coastal, rustic, and classic wedding styles while pairing effortlessly with white, blush, ivory, lavender, and greenery.

Best Uses for Weddings & Events

Best Uses for Weddings & Events

Light Blue Delphinium is commonly used for:

  • Bridal bouquets
  • Bridesmaid bouquets
  • Ceremony arrangements
  • Reception centerpieces
  • Flower arches
  • Welcome sign arrangements
  • Floral installations
  • Bud vase arrangements

Its tall stems help draw the eye upward, making it especially useful in larger arrangements that need additional height without excessive bulk.

Design Tips

Delphinium performs best when used to create height rather than fullness. Place stems toward the back or center of arrangements to create dimension and a natural garden-inspired shape.

For bouquets, only a few stems are often needed to create an elegant silhouette without overpowering the focal flowers.

Because the florets are naturally delicate, handle stems carefully while designing and transporting arrangements.

Care & Handling Tips

Fresh Light Blue Delphinium may arrive with blooms that are not fully open. After trimming the stems and placing them into clean water with flower food, additional florets will continue opening over the next several days.

For best results:

  • Keep flowers cool and well hydrated.
  • Change the water every 1-2 days.
  • Recut stems before placing them in fresh water.
  • Keep arrangements away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Frequently Asked Buying Questions

Can anyone order wholesale Light Blue Delphinium?

Yes. Flower Explosion sells farm-fresh wholesale flowers directly to the public. You do not need a florist license or business account to order.

How far in advance should I order?

We recommend scheduling delivery 2-3 days before your wedding or event to allow the flowers time to hydrate and naturally open.

Is some floret shedding normal?

Yes. Delphinium is naturally delicate, and a small amount of floret shedding during shipping, unpacking, and arranging is expected.

What flowers work best with Light Blue Delphinium?

Delphinium pairs beautifully with roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, hydrangeas, stock, baby's breath, and greenery to create soft, romantic floral designs.

FAQs

Flower Care & Prep

Remove the flowers from the box by cutting the straps, but don't remove the rubber bands that hold the flower stems together.

Remove sleeves protecting flower heads.

Fill your container with 4-6 inches of fresh, room temperature water.

Mix the packet of included flower food in the water to protect the flowers and provide additional nutrients.

Cut the stems diagonally under running water with a sharp knife or scissors, one inch from the stem's bottom edge.

Place the stems in the prepared water and watch them come to life! Remove any leaves that fall below the water line to increase the vase life.

Change water every two days for increased vase life. Keep flowers in a cool location, away from direct sunlight and drafts.

Do's & Don'ts

Do not place flowers in direct sunlight, drafts, excessive heat, or freezing temperatures. Keep flowers in a cool location while they hydrate. Remove any foliage below the water line, refresh the water regularly, and handle stems gently when arranging.

Are your flowers really fresh?

Yes. Flower Explosion flowers are farm-fresh and shipped directly to you, cut to fill your order rather than pulled from a store cooler.

Can I choose my delivery date, and when will my flowers arrive?

Yes. You select your delivery date at checkout. Orders ship via FedEx and are scheduled to arrive by 5:00 PM on your chosen day, Monday through Friday.

When should I order for a wedding or event?

Choose a delivery date 2 to 3 days before your event so flowers can hydrate and open. Order about 10–15% extra for trimming and natural variation.

Will my flowers arrive in full bloom or closed?

Many varieties ship in bud or partially closed on purpose. This protects blooms in transit and gives the longest vase life.

Will my flowers look exactly like the photos?

They will be beautifully close, with the natural variation that makes fresh flowers special. Exact shade, size, and shape can vary slightly.

What if my flowers arrive damaged or aren't quite right?

Inspect flowers on arrival. Contact us the same day at 1-866-639-0277 and support@flowerexplosion.com with photos. We will refund or replace damaged flowers.

Do my flowers come with care instructions?

Yes. Every order includes flower food and simple care guidance to help your blooms last.
